Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711R

Golden Nautilus 5711R

The most famous product line in the watchmaking industry is the Patek Philippe Nautilus collection. After the discontinuation of the steel model (link here) and the introduction of the 2021 Patek Philippe novelties (link here), which included the 5711-farewell model, it’s highly likely that the 5711/1R will only be produced for one more year.

As one of the most photogenic watches ever made by Patek Philippe, the watch combines both, elegance and beauty. The 18k pink gold used for the 5711R plays beautifully with the light. The polished octagonal shape of its bezel reflects its elegance in a way no other material could. Surprisingly, the light/dark brown dial perfectly matches the rose gold tone chosen by Patek. I had initially thought the dial color might be too similar to the case & bracelet but it turns out that the slight contract between brown and rose gold is exactly what makes the watch so eye catching. Its superb guilloché dial with horizontal lines and the excellent reflections create a lively and precious face, changing from dark brown to light chocolate. On the dial you will find the applied gold hands and hour markers with luminescent coating, which allows you to read the time in the dark.

18k Pink Gold For The 5711R

At the same time the 18k pink gold bracelet is another highlight of the watch. It features a satin brushed finish with highly polished center links as well as the Nautilus fold-over clasp that we‘ve seen in almost all Nautilus models. On the wrist, this luxury watch provides a beautiful weight thanks to its solid 18K rose gold construction. Notably, all watches from Patek Philippe combine the highest-quality craftsmanship with exquisite decoration and some of the world’s finest materials. But my personal favorite precious metal used by the Swiss luxury brand remains the 18k rose gold.

The Patek Philippe ref. 5711/1R stays simple in terms of complications as it comes only with just the time and date. It has a brilliant in-house mechanical movement (Caliber 26‑330 S C), allowing a power reserve of 45 hours. The beautiful caliber is visible via the sapphire-crystal case back. It is worth mentioning that the movement consists of 213 parts and is stamped with the Patek Philippe Seal. One of the things that I most appreciate about the Patek Philippe Nautilus is that without that level of quality, it would not be nearly as nice.

Market Price & Rareness

In fact, the great proportions (diameter of 40mm and height of 8.3 mm) make the Patek Philippe Nautlius 5711R one of the most sought-after timepieces for both men and women, and a future classic for decades to come. The popularity is already reflected in the current market price. While the 5711R is available at retail for CHF 50,000, the market price is almost three times as high. New and unworn models fetch prices of around CHF 150’000.

Previously, many of you didn’t know that the 5711 in rose gold was introduced much later than the steel version. While the latter version of the 5711 was released in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus, and as the modern interpretation of the original 3700, the rose gold version was released in 2015. Thus, the gold version is rarer than the steel version and, in some sense, more “luxurious”.

We, at The Collectors Circle, are big fans of gold watches – especially of gold sports watches and the Patek Philippe Nautlius 5711R satisfies all our claims.

Summary

Brand:

Patek Philippe

Model:

Nautilus 5711/1R-001

Price:

Retail price is at CHF 50’000 but current market price is around CHF 150’000.

Limitation:

No official limitation but extremely rare due to low production number by Patek Philippe

Measurements:

Diameter: 40 mm; height: 8.3 mm

When to wear:

The watch is as stylish as it gets. The brown dial allows you to fly under the radar even though it is a gold watch. Personally, I think the watch is a great addition to any casual or business casual outfit. But it wouldn’t be my first choice for getting dressed up in a suit and tie.

What we love about the watch:

In fact, the slight contrast between brown and rose gold makes the watch eye-catching and stylish. Although the gold watch is a statement, you won’t look over the top.
