Patek Philippe 5711P Is A Watch For Extraordinary Taste

Sometimes ‘special’ just isn’t enough. And that’s why Patek Philippe offers variants of their best models exclusively off-catalogue and only to their very best clients. One of the most famous collectors of such pieces is our friend @horology_ancienne who has some of the rarest timepieces in his collection.

It’s no secret that the 5711 line of Patek is highly coveted and is also certainly one of the most desired watches for collectors. For their best clients, Patek Philippe decided to introduce an off-catalogue platinum version of the 5711 set with gemstones which could be either, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires or, as seen on the pictures, rubies.

This beauty (ref. 5711/112P-001) has a dark greyish dial (that may be mistakenly referred to as black) and a 40mm case with a bracelet made of platinum. The bezel is set with 32 baguettes rubies, forming the world-famous Nautilus shape. My favorite feature of this watch are the twelve baguette rubies on the dial that are displayed as hour markers. Like for all 5711’s, the date window is visible at 3 o’clock. The hands for the hours and minutes are made in white to easily read the time on the dark dial while the red seconds hand rounds up the glimpse of this masterpiece.

The self-winding automatic movement has a power reserve of 45 hours and can be observed via the sapphire crystal exhibition case-back.

A 5711 in platinum is already rare, irrespective of whether it is the anniversary version (read the full article here). But trying to find a platinum Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 set with gemstones is rather impossible.

Fun fact: Kevin Hart is a passionate watch collector and, as all of you would guess, he has a thing for Patek Philippe watches. In one of his funniest pictures on Instagram, you can see him wearing a 5711P of the above-mentioned VIP series but with blue Sapphire stones instead the red rubies (see last picture in our article).

Once again, thanks to our friend @horology_ancienne for the pictures. If you don’t already follow him and The Collectors Circle on Instagram, make sure you do for the rarest pieces of haute horology.
